Since 2010, I have competed in several sprint triathlons throughout the hill country, consisting of approximately a half-mile swim, a 12-14 mile bike ride, and a 5 kilometer run. In 2013, I decided to challenge myself by competing in an olympic-distance triathlon, which is approximately twice the distance of a sprint.

Training for the triathlon was one of the hardest projects I had ever undertaken. Finding time to train, planning each swim, bike and run course, and tracking my progress was challenging, to say the least. I had a goal of finishing the triathlon in under three hours. My final clock time was 2 hours and 50 minutes, which I think speaks as much to my ability to plan and estimate timelines as it does to my dedication to training.
